Maintenance Service Intervals

British Standard 5839 Part 1 states that the period between service intervals on fire alarm systems to the following:

The period between visits to undertake inspection and service should be based upon a risk assessment but the maximum period between visits should not exceed six months.

Therefore, service intervals on fire alarm systems are determined by the risk assessment outcome in compliance with the 2005 Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.

Design considerations for Buildings

The design and type of fire alarm system suitable for a building all depends on the structure and use of the building and current legislation. New and altered buildings require approval from the local building control and existing buildings, except domestic premises, are to comply with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the required fire risk assessment.

Our qualified and approved design team are able to advise you on the types of fire alarm systems available to suit your specific fire risk in accordance with the relevant British Standard and current legislative requirements.
